IFS Training
IFS is a psychotherapeutic model with an increasingly strong scientific evidence base. The Level 1 training introduces the core principles and basic skills of IFS and enables participants to apply the model in clinical practice.
Learning pathway
The Level 1 training forms the foundation of an ongoing learning pathway in Internal Family Systems. Participants can progress to Level 2 (with advanced modules covering specific areas of application, such as addiction, trauma, working with children and adolescents, and couples therapy) and Level 3. IFS training programmes are primarily intended as continuing education and professional development for mental health professionals.
Experiential
The trainings have a strong experiential component, alongside a solid theoretical foundation. Participants practise with one another under the close supervision of training assistants, becoming increasingly aware of their own Self and their parts. This personal development element helps participants access the qualities of Self, which is essential both for themselves and for the therapeutic process.

Who can participate?
The IFS Level 1 training is intended for professionals who already work in mental healthcare or the psychosocial field. To participate, you must have a relevant qualification and be actively working as a practitioner in your field, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations in the Netherlands and Belgium.
You are affiliated with a recognised professional association with a code of ethics and complaints procedure (in accordance with the Wkkgz), and have sufficient practical experience with clients. IFS training builds on your existing expertise and provides in-depth, experiential training in the IFS model.
Level 1 for BIG-registered healthcare psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists, and for regular and complementary healthcare professionals with recognised qualifications
Within IFS Nederland, Level 1 trainings are available both for BIG-registered professionals and for practitioners who are not BIG-registered. Both pathways follow the same international curriculum of the IFS Institute and are equally comprehensive and experiential. The difference lies in the professional background and legal frameworks within which you work.
Diversity, equity and inclusion
Our aim in this training is to create a learning environment and community that supports the inner welcoming of parts that have become exiled, shamed or marginalized within our system, so that they can be seen, heard, valued and ultimately healed. We hope this work will lead to greater Self-leadership, with all of us becoming more connected, curious and compassionate toward ourselves and one another.
